April....

After a fantastic finish to March, the fine and sunny weather continues into April. I'm going start this month off with some photos of wild flowers, which were taken last week during a walk down to Loe Bar. This amazing walk starts from Helston continuing through a wooded lane all the way to the Loe Bar beach 'near Porthleven'.

The whole area is surrounded by the picturesque Loe Bar lake, here there is an abundance of wild flowers and many species of birds. Parking for this walk is found beside Helston boating lake 'it's even free'. To the left is one of my first photos, the park at the start of the walk is blanketed with these Narcissus. The recent warm weather has help with many spring time blooms.

Below you can see a wild primrose and I'm sorry to say I don't know the name of the other flower 'answers on a post card please'......

April 3th.....

Now that the clocks have changed, it's good to have the opportunity to garden in the evening. The recent warm sunny days have had a dramatic effect, making most plants grow at a phenomenal rate 'including the weeds', so it's a busy time of the year now.

As you can see in the following photos I have planted tomatoes and lettuce in my green house. They are really appreciating the recent sunny weather, as they have nearly doubled in size over the last two weeks. The lettuce plants are now big enough for me to take an odd leaf for a tasty lunch time sandwich.

2009 growing season has just start in my glass house...
As you can see I have planted some lettuce in between the young tomatoe plants....

The warm sunny weather and the welcomed rain on Wednesday have given out door plants a sudden growth spurt. I've got lettuce's coming out of my ears, 'I always sow too many'. Alot of my fruiting plants are now starting to blossom, as you can see in the photos below...........
